IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Photorejuvenation uses a broad spectrum of light which is primarily absorbed by melanin and oxyhemoglobin and is effective in treating of sun spots, hyperpigmentation, capillaries, elastosis and fine lines.

What to expect during the treatment?

During your treatment, you will need to wear dark glasses to protect your eyes. At first skin cleansing the area that is being treated. Then rub a cool gel onto your skin. The technician will use the hand peace with the pulses of light, you may feel a slight stinging or warm sensation. Some people liken the feeling to being snapped with a rubber band and this sensation is usually very tolerable. Depending on which part of your body is being treated and how large the area is, the treatment should take 20 to 30 minutes. To get the results you want, you may need to have 3-6 treatments. Those treatments should be spaced about one month apart to let your skin heal in between.

What to expect afterward?

Immediately treated area of skin will be mild red and sensitive for a few hours, as if you got sunburned. Your skin will continue to be sensitive for a couple of days after the procedure. You may need to avoid using hot water on it until your skin heals. Your skin may be slightly swollen, too. Avoid hot showers, hot tubs, saunas, scrubs or any sweat on the treated area for 3-4 days post-treatment, or until the redness have completely disappeared. Patients can return to work or to resume their normal activities right away. Some discoloration may be seen in the areas treated, and these areas will flake off within one to two weeks.

How prepare to the treatment?

Come in with a clean face, no make-up or moisturizer.

 

Stop using Glycolics and Retin A’s 2 to 3 days before treatment.

 

No tanning , tan must be 4 to 6 weeks old before having a treatment.

 

No tanning creams 14 days prior to treatment.

 

Protect exposed areas with and SPF of 30 or higher before and during your treatment.


Test patch skin type IV and wait 24 hours before treating.


Begin antiviral medication on patients having a known history of HSV.
